Is it hurry? Reply to this post

Don't you all thought that it is too early to port some laguages and software tools to Sprinter before there are no strong strategy of programming? Won't it be the dead end for all those ports? The managment of the Sprinter project SHOULD think about libraries and the core. And only after shoud permit to port Hi-level programing languages. That's my point of view. It would be much smarter to go this way! Any comments?

Don't you think it is a good idea to have a language like CamelForth available? It is interactive and easy to use, so it makes testing DSS & BIOS functions very easy and could help to speed up their development.

Hey mister Lancaster! Don't take offence on my replic! I do preciate you for the CamelForth - yes really! But will it be easy to re-write whole language for further usage? I was tried to say only this! Once more - don't take offence on me! =)

Don't worry - I wasn't taking offence, just making a point that it can be very useful to have such tools available early!

There is no problem with re-porting CamelForth - the initial port from the Z88 only took a few days altogether. (I doubt if this would be necessary anyway - we just need bugfixes and additions to DSS/BIOS, not a major change).

Sprinter CamelForth is a good realization of most flexible and one of the most powerful programming languages. Thank you very much, Garry!
So, we can create applications by Hi-level programming languages now. It's great! It is more easy way for creation a lot of programs. More easy and more quick, by the way.
Finally, Forth, as well as С++ (I hope), will interest experienced programmers from any another scene. And they will came to the Sprinter. And it is not too early task of "the managment of the Sprinter project" too.
The ports of Hi-level programming languages does not prevent creation of a system of libraries support. Sprinter project must progress by parallel ways.

Can't the Z88DK be ported to Sprinter? Then we would have a C compiler.

Z88DK is unknown for us. May be, Garry Lancaster will comment your question?

See http://z88dk.sourceforge.net/

It has been ported to several computers already.

Another alternative is GCC (GNU Compiler Collection).
